General Registration for the 23-24 school year will begin in February. We will host an Open House for interested families on Thursday, February 2nd at 6:30. The Open House will take place at Open Door School and will include an introduction to our philosophy and a tour of the facility. Registration forms will be availble that evening as well. If you are unable to make it on February 2nd, we will be happy to schedule a tour for you. We schedule tours Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30.
Please email all registration questions to Suzy at email@example.com. Thank you!
**Because we are a preschool with a unique philosophy and a rich history of progressive education in the Charlotte area, we require a tour prior to registration.**

Inclement Weather Closing Policy: If Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) are closed due to weather or road conditions, Open Door is also closed. If CMS calls for a delayed opening, Half Day will be closed and Full Day will operate on the same delay as CMS. Please check the status of CMS to determine whether Open Door is open on inclement weather/road days. **We do not follow CMS if they are closed due to power outages, frozen pipes and other non weather related issues.** We will post our closings on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
FCA at ODS
There is a parent/guardian volunteer organization known as the Family Community Association (“FCA”) which plans community-building events, adult education forums, and community outreach opportunities, and coordinates fundraising efforts to generate funds for our Sue Riley Scholarship Fund. The 4/5s class worked together to produce this beauty! Each child painted their own square and then a parent put them all together for the silent auction. This baby could be yours!! #odssilentauction #4/5sclass...
Process over product is something we talk about a lot at ODS. Children explore art without a teacher directed outcome. We never know how it will turn out in the end, but it’s fun to watch the progression. First, they painted a blank canvas yellow. Then, they drew on the yellow canvas with pencils. Today, they added blue and a child said, “Goodbye yellow!” So, this lovely piece will forever be titled Goodbye Yellow. #processart exploreandlearn #opendoorschool...
